How many cleaning products do we need? Many of us have at least a half dozen various cleansers, stain removers etc. A larger chunk have basically have one cleaner to clean all the various things that need cleaning in our home each. How many do you have currently?
So what do we need? We need an all purpose cleaner. We need something to disinfect. We need some sort of soap for dishes or laundry. We probably need something to clean glass. We need a go to product for those tough jobs. We need something to clean our floors. Do we really need anything else?
No. The rest of the products are just gravy. All those high priced bathroom cleaners, kitchen cleaners, x, y, and z cleaners aren't needed. Find something that works well for you and reduce the amount of chemicals in your home.
My current cleaning supply list is short: I use Simple Green to clean everything, bleach to disinfect, Magic Eraser to deal with those tough jobs, Windex for glass (Simple Green will clean it, but I like the Windex results better), Laundry Soap, Dish Soap and a Swiffer Wet Jet for my floors. That's it. Its very rare that I cannot clean everything with the above.
If you want to save money and reduce even more the amount of cleaning supplies you have; buy vinegar. That's it. Vinegar disinfects, it cleans anything, cleans glass, you can use it on your floors (spot check first, some of the new flooring might not like it), and acts as a fabric softener. All those things your mother told you about. Personally I cannot stand the smell of vinegar that much, but it does get used.
What cleaning supplies can't you live without?
